Steering Problems: The BMW i3 often faces steering difficulties or noises while steering
Motor Mount Failure: This is a reported issue in BMW i3 models manufactured before 2016. The plastic motor mounts can get severely damaged or break, especially under harsh conditions
Slow Charging: Issues with the charging rate can occur, especially if the charging settings are not maximized or if there’s a fault in the charger. This problem is noted in older models of the BMW i3, which have two separate 16 ampere charging circuits, and in newer models with three 16 amp circuits
Airbag Problems: In the 2014 and 2015 models of the BMW i3, there have been issues with the frontal passenger airbags due to manufacturing errors, leading to potential failure in deployment during low-speed collisions
Fuel-Vapor Problem: In the extended range (REx) models of the BMW i3, there’s a risk of fire due to fuel vapors. This occurs when the vent line of the fuel tank rubs against the battery’s positive cable sleeve, leading to damage and potential fuel vapor leakage.
